Release Review | Sunta – ‘Offender’

Early soundwaves of new single ‘Offender’ were teased back at the beginning of May and later unveiled in a Traxsource exclusive. Now, Sunta’s fresh new beats are out on Scottish record label Dealt With Records for all to hear.

Malta native Sunta may only have begun DJing four years ago but already she has a clear and defiant approach to electronic dance music. Infact, her debut gig saw Sunta supporting none other than disco-loving House pumping Honey Dijon. Talk about making an entrance! She now commands the decks of Malta’s popular underground club Liquid where she never fails to unleash a high energy, raw clubbing set onto loyal ravers below.

On first spin, it’s clear that Sunta produces with that exact vision of a raving dancefloor crowd in mind. ‘Offender’ leads with an upbeat House kick. Bright, stabbing electro keys hack into the track’s early progression before fusing with the acid house bassline. The deep bass is crying out for a warehouse sound system with an almighty subwoofer or two. You know the scene; an abandoned industrial infrastructure housing thousands of jam-packed hot and sweaty ravers two-stepping uncontrollably not knowing if that hazy glow ahead is sunset or sunrise.

With the track now set to a steady pace, it begins to hardwire its catchy electro tune into your brain for light-years to come. You can almost feel the galactic trance that ‘Offender’ would lead you into whilst on the dancefloor. Although a minimal track by heart, the spaced out effects and crafted production holds your interest and the minutes pass by almost without realising.

Not only a talented DJ/producer, Sunta is also a keen activist who uses her platform as an artist to stand against racism and misogyny. As well as leading the way in inspiring other women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community to follow their passions and carve their own career path in the music industry.

Collaborating with Dealt With Records, Sunta joins a successful roster of DJs and producers who have already released under the Glasgow-based independent label. Previous artists include the likes of Henrik Villard, Luke Blicero, LF System and most recently, Ten Fingerz.

Overall, new track ‘Offender’ is a fine example of contemporary deep minimal tech stamped with Sunta’s high-octane energy.

You can now check out Sunta’s latest single ‘Offender’ on major platforms including Spotify, Traxsource and Bandcamp.
