Lilah

Before becoming an artist in her own right, Lilah already had an extensive amount of experience within the music industry, behind the scenes. Lilah had previously studied at ELAM (East London Arts and Music College) where Radio Presenter Julie Adenuga was her mentor. After her time there she went on to continue to work with Julie as her assistant.

Since then, Lilah became an A&R at XL Records, where she saw major success working behind the scenes on the campaign for the album ‘Crop Circle’ by the rapper Nines. This album went on to chart at number 5 in the UK Album Chart and was later certified Gold for selling over 100,000 copies.

Now, after all this experience behind the scenes, Lilah is ready to showcase herself as an artist. Her first offering was the sweet and sentimental track “Lilah’s Lullaby”. The song is Lilah writing from the perspective of her parents who are encouraging her to create her own path in the world. The song itself is quite simple and doesn’t hide itself behind heavy production which adds an extra vulnerability to the track.

Her next single is “Summer Nights Fling”, The song is a stark contrast to her previous offering in terms of lyrical content, as Lilah is entangled in a number of short-term romances and revelling in playing games with her lovers. As a result of the different topic, Lilah delivers her vocals with a more smooth and sultry tone that blends perfectly with the lo-fi production of the song.

The visuals of the song really add extra layers and dimensions to the song, as it has Lilah portraying a number of ‘dangerous women’ that are rooted in biblical and mythological stories, and in one part sees Lilah as head of the table which is where she sees herself in these different romances.

Both these tracks are taken off her debut EP “Atlantis” which was released back in November and sees her work extensively with producers J Warner and P2J, who have both worked with some of the industry’s biggest heavy hitters.

Since her debut, Lilah has received support from the likes of Amazon Music, BBC Radio Introducing, Notion Magazine and Paper Magazine alongside many more, and this is just the start. Expect to hear more from this rising London siren in the near future as she is surely one to watch.
