Celebrating 50 years of the iconic Smiley brand, EDM royalty David Guetta joins in the celebrations with an exclusive new music video for his reimagined take on feel-good anthem ‘Silver Screen (Shower Scene)’ in an effort to spread joy and optimism across the globe.
Originally launched in the 70s in France, Smiley began as a positive news outlet and later became synonymous with the sense of expression and freedom that electronic music and rave culture emulates. In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Smiley launched the ‘Take the Time to Smile’ campaign to encourage people to find compassion, gratitude and ultimately a reason to smile in everyday life, increasing our serotonin levels and overall wellness.

For a campaign of such momentum, Smiley called on a man best known around the world for raising vibrations and bringing feel-good energy to the dancefloor, David Guetta.
Reworking the old-school rave track originally produced by Felix Da Housecat featuring KITTIN, Guetta puts a modern spin on the classic House anthem and features in the exclusive accompanying music video.
The freshly unveiled video is emblazoned with Smiley’s world-famous emblem and the 50th anniversary street-art manifesto campaign led by graffiti artist André Saraiva who also makes a cameo appearance. Instagram-star Seth, better known as ‘@dudewithasign‘ can also be spotted in the visuals. Having made a name for himself as an internet sensation that has everyone smiling from ear to ear with his humorous written words, he makes a stellar addition.
Back on New Year’s Eve 2021, David Guetta first teased the remix on a live-steamed set from Dubai with André Saraiva’s custom artwork for ‘Take the Time to Smile’ set as the backdrop with the slogan in various languages.
David Guetta himself commented on Smiley’s legacy and their anniversary campaign to spread more joy in the world:
“The Smiley is an iconic symbol for spreading positivity, so when I was asked to be involved with 50th year celebrations for ‘Take the Time to Smile’, I gladly accepted. The Smiley message is about happiness and bringing people together, and that’s always been my way of thinking and the message I have tried to share in my music.”
“The video for my ‘Silver Screen’ rework with Felix Da Housecat and KITTIN’ captures this perfectly. The upbeat track combined with artwork from graffiti-maestro André Saraiva and appearances from Dude with a sign results in a video that I hope will make people smile.”
First spins of the track could be heard on February 23rd with the video dropping shortly after on 10th March 2022.
Finally, Smiley leaves a reminder to ‘Take the Time to Smile, but be sure to make some time to dance, too’
